Main Features

The swing check valve has a simple mechanism and is easy to operate without manual intervention.

Effectively stops the reverse flow, protecting equipment such as pumps and compressors from damage.

Swing check valves have fewer moving parts, therefore generally require less maintenance cost.

The internal channel design of the valve is smooth, which can reduce the flow resistance of the medium and reduce energy loss.

Applications of Swing check valves

Swing check valves are key components in fluid control systems and are widely used in water, oil, gas and steam pipelines to prevent backflow phenomena. They are used in industrial applications such as chemical processing, power plants and wastewater treatment to ensure unidirectional flow of fluids, protect equipment safety and enhance system efficiency. By effectively controlling the direction of flow, swing check valves play an important role in all types of facilities.

FAQ About Swing check valves

The main differences between double disc check valves and swing check valves are in construction and performanceDouble disc check valves typically have a lower shock effect and are able to close faster, thus reducing shock to the piping system, while swing check valves rely on gravity closure of the disc and are prone to a louder shock. In terms of cost, double disc check valves typically have a lower total cost than swing check valves, including installationmaintenance, and energy consumption. In addition, double disc check valves are more compact in design, making them suitable for applications where space is limited.

The main difference between swing check valves and nozzle check valves is the construction and principle of operation. Swing check valves rely on gravity to close the valve disc, which is suitable for higher flow rates, but can produce a louder shock, whereas nozzle check valves use spring-assisted closure, which allows for a faster response to changes in flow and reduces the phenomenon of water hammer. Cost-wise, nozzle check valves typically perform better in high-flow applications, as they offer lower pressure loss. Overall, both have advantages in different application scenarios.

Medium restriction: It is not suitable for environments containing solid particles or fluids with high viscosity, otherwise it may cause wear and blockage of the internal parts of the valve, affecting its normal operation.

The sealing performance is relatively weak: In some cases, the sealing performance of the swing check valve may not be as good as that of the lift check valve, which may cause a certain amount of fluid leakage. Especially for gas media, the sealing effect may be worse.

Limited in space constraints:compared with some other types of check valves (like lift check valves), Swing check valves are larger, which can be an issue where space is limited.

Regular cleaning is required: since this type of valve don’t have a self-cleaning function, it must be cleaned regularly to extend its service life, otherwise it is easy to cause sealing and performance problems

Swing check valves do have cracking pressure. Cracking pressure is the minimum difference in pressure between the valve inlet and outlet required for the disc to begin to open and allow fluid to pass through. When the fluid pressure exceeds this cracking pressure, the disc of the swing check valve lifts, allowing unidirectional flow. Therefore, selecting the proper opening pressure is critical to ensure the valve’s effectiveness and stability in a given application.
